Introducing ~ Julian Adams

South African prophetic minister with a heart for sharing God

A short time ago Terry Virgo introduced his friend Julian Adams to New Frontiers Churches in the UK.

Julian Adams was born in Cape Town South Africa to Chris and Edna Adams

Julian became a Christian when he was 3 and was baptised in the Spirit at about the same time.

His parents prayed for him on their bed and he was filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in tongues. To this day, Julian cannot remember a day without being aware of God's presence when praying in the Spirit!

Julian went to a great charismatic church as a young boy and later moved to a church in a coastal town called Fish Hoek, where he became Youth/young Adults Pastor at 19 yrs old. It was a really great church and he began to 'experiment' with the prophetic there.

Prophetic encounters and ministry began at an early age. Julian began to discover his call at the age of 9. A powerful prophet spoke a word over him saying that he would have a call to prophetic ministry. After the lady prophet prophesied, Julian began to sense and perceive things more and more.

At the age of 14 Julian encountered God in his room where he felt God speak to him about being a prophet. As he walked out of the room, a family friend who was visiting began to prophesy about a dream she had had about Julian being a prophet to the nations.

Perhaps the biggest turning point for Julian was when God had touched him during the outpouring of the Spirit in 1994 (God is still pouring out his Spirit!). God touched Julian in such a powerful way that Julian bounced his body height as the electricity of heaven shot through him. God dealt with so many of his insecurities (about his speech impediment and many rejection issues) and commissioned him from then on. That was at 16.He then began to get invited to different places to speak and minister prophetically. It was during these times that God began to stretch him and teach him about the prophetic.

Eldership
Julian became exposed to Newfrontiers and joined them after he heard Terry Virgo preach on grace! He knew it was something that he was created to enjoy and so he joined The Bay community Church, led by Jeff Kidwell.

In his own words, "This is a rocking Holy Spirit church, where the guys are so up for God it is amazing". The church really receive the prophetic and Jeff invited Julian onto staff and he became an elder at 23. It was an amazing time of growth and development. Julian really learned how to love the church and pull people into carrying the prophetic in a way that edifies everyone! Julian stayed on staff for 6 years altogether and for 5 of these I served as an elder! The were definitely some of the best times of his life!

A friend not forgotten
Simon Pettit remains in Julian's heart and mind as one of his hero's. His first exposure to Simon was his laugh! It was big, like him, and straight from the heart! It was then followed by a great hug and him getting to know this great giant in God. Julian had many opportunities to learn from Simon and saw amazing things happen around his apostolic gift. Julian thinks the biggest impression left on him was in the context of traveling with him. He had the opportunity to travel with him to Australia and New Zealand. It was the first time Julian had been exposed to seeing apostles and prophets working together! What a privilege! His understanding of church and laying correct foundations was radically changed on that trip. Julian owes his passion for biblical prophetic ministry to Simon! Both Simon and Lindsey, have inspired Julian so much in their calling to the purposes of God, and he misses Simon lots.

A world wide calling.
God has opened doors for Julian in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Madagascar, Lesotho, England, Scotland, France, Switzerland, New Zealand, Australia and Holland.

More than New Frontiers
It has been a pleasure for Julian to learn and serve from others in the body of Christ. Prophetic gifts are giving to the church and not to a network or denomination. Julian loves doing stuff with other streams and church groups and he has ministered in various Baptist, Pentecostal, Anglican, Methodist and a number of apostolic networks! It's been loads of fun!

Magnificent obsession?
Julian had a very powerful encounter with God recently. He fell into a trance and God began to speak to him in a moving vision. He saw in the corner of the room an eagle on a perch. It had a chain tied to it's claw. As it began to stretch its wings, he saw the incredible breadth of it's wing span and felt God speak to him about an increasing wing span of the prophetic in a church.

"I want to bring a freeing covering to the prophetic ministry that releases many into prophetic destiny".

Julian felt God say "I want to bring a freeing covering to the prophetic ministry that releases many into prophetic destiny". He then saw the chains fall off and felt God say it was time to stop domesticating the prophetic ministry.

Eagles like prophets are meant to fly high! So in short (there was some other stuff God spoke to him about in this encounter) He is passionate about the church receiving and releasing prophets to be who they are.  He also wants to see biblical encounters and prophetic language (ie, trances, angels, 'taken up in the spirit') be restored to the church as valid experiences that help move the church on.

His greatest obsession for the church, is that the fullness of Christ's magnificent achievement in his death and resurrection is manifested in her on the earth as a witness to the resurrected Lord Jesus!
