Heart matters

an honest approach to being prophetic?

I'm glad you found this part of our site.

fAway from the bravado of the prophetic ministry, those gifted and called by God in 'prophetic things', may find that at times they face issues in their own heart that can be troubling and cause them considerable anxiety.

Not too long ago, Mike Bickle put to paper the little quote that, "God offends the mind to reveal the heart."  Not really something you can build doctrine on, but it's easy to see what he is trying to say.

God@work?

You can be sure, if you are a prophet Christian that God is always at work in your heart. The issues of the heart are often the heart of the issue. Our hearts have fault lines running through them. We are vulnerable at every level, and God knows it.

Vulnerability is not a bad thing.  It's certainly much better than presumption.

Samson knew that better than all of us. On the momentous occasion of his disastrous bad hair cut day, he was carrying about the affairs of his life as if nothing had ever changed. He didn't know that something had shifted. He was so familiar with the presence of God's enabling Spirit that he forgot, left and abandoned his first love for the darling of his heart, whose sole mission was to take away the strength and passion of his sin-diseased heart.

What's going on?

What's happening in your heart at this time? Right now? On these few pages I will share what's on mine and hopefully you will see in some places that we are so alike. Remember Elijah? What did the Bible say about this outrageously courageous man of God who stood up to the amazing challenges of faith and then quaked under the threat of Jezebel? The answer is that he was a man just like us.

I'm not the greatest in the kingdom. My friends would laugh if you said that in front of them. But at times I am like you. At times you are like me. When I hear God speak there is no-one else on earth I would rather be, than me.

Please bookmark this section, visit often and also let me know that you are standing with me in the journey together. My prayer is that God uses this feeble one to reach, touch and encourage greater ones like you to reach out to the magnificent One who has won our hearts, Jesus the Christ.

Your comments:
Matt C - Sheffield "...the 'disappointment' section gave me an idea or two for potential extra pages/content within it. I know the disappointment that the page on PR.com is more based around not being able to share/disappointment in a more general sense but a section on when you feel like you're not hearing from God could also be useful. Obviously it's vital that people know how to handle their gifting and when He does speak, but knowing how to handle times when we feel varying degrees of closeness to God could also be a key issue for people. Whether this is due to God actually not speaking clearly or us not being in a place where we're able to listen is another matter but an important one all the same! I'm not giving any specifics here but just thought I'd throw something into the mix!"

Excellent idea - we'll cover that shortly!
